[I had previously posted this photograph on #soldierporn, some time ago. A party contacted Tumblr and petitioned for its removal on grounds of copyright infringement. I am reposting it here in flagrant disregard of that challenge, which I did not fight through Tumblr’s channels, because the source from which I acquired the photo, DVIDShub.net, has added a very convenient label to the bottom of the photo’s page:
So if you are the party that took umbrage with the presence of this content on #soldierporn, please take it up with Defense Video & Imagery Distribution System, and the photographer credited with it, here.
Ordinarily, it wouldn’t be an issue for me to honor the request of an individual or party who contacted me to have their image removed from #soldierporn for personal or political reasons, regardless of what they were. I felt the need to take a stand on this, however, because the method the party used to remove the content was in direct and flagrant disregard of the copyright-free status of the content. Ethics become involved, and on that I will not waver. None of the content on this blog is mine, and I make every effort to attribute the content of each post even if direct links to sources are not included.
